Women's Basketball / Ramle goes into 2-1 lead vs. Bnot Hasharon
By Arie Livnat

The women's basketball league in Israel generally enjoys close and dramatic games, but all of the meetings so far between the two teams that made it to the final of the playoffs - Bnot Hasharon and Elitzur Ramle - have been one-sided. In fact, not one of the seven games between the two teams so far this season has gone down to the wire.

Last night, it was Ramle's turn to demolish Bnot Hasharon, winning 81-69 in Herzliya and taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

"I'm not entirely sure how significant the closeness of the games is," said Ramle coach Eli Rabi after the game. "My team has been unpredictable all season; it's been almost impossible for me to guess how the players will perform on any given night."

According to Rabi's opposite number, Shiki Pelach, much depends on the mental condition of each team. "I thought that with the series balanced at 1-1, we would be in for a tighter game."

In beating Bnot Hasharon, Ramle broke a run of three straight losses in Herzliya, and Rabi is quick to learn the lessons. "We are a team that doesn't score high, and because of the injury to Jackie Johnston our offense is poor. We don't score many points, so we need a tight defense."
