Stealth-mode startup Libox scores $1 million investments
By Ma'ayan Cohen

Evergreen Venture Partners plunked over $1 million into Libox, serial entrepreneur Erez Pilosof's new startup. Partam Properties, owned by Israeli real estate investor Egal Ahouvi, joined the seed investment opportunity.

Pilosof has spread a cloak of invisibility over the precise nature of the new company's activities. What is known is that he is developing an Internet platform aimed at users that he hopes will compete against Google, Microsoft, Apple and the rest of the big boys.

Pilosof says Libox is at the patent registration stage, which is to be followed by a reveal of the company's "ambitious" activity. He's been working on the project since leaving Walla!, in March 2007, and is currently interviewing candidates in order to bring on board 10 new employees within a month. Pilosof will move to Silicon Valley in northern California at the end of the year, but Libox research and development is to remain in Israel.

In addition to co-founding the successful Israeli Internet portal Walla!, Pilosof is a partner in ViralGurus.com, a Web site for sharing entertainment media files: video, flash, games and more.

He previously told TheMarker that he left Walla! "when I knew I had the next big idea. Since leaving I've had innumerable offers to join startups but I decided to devote my time to just two companies that I believe in: LiveGurus.com and Libox."
