Soccer / State Cup quarterfinals / Cinderella inspires Netanya's Ohana
By Dor Belech and David Maruani

The State Cup quarterfinals continue today with a matchup between Kiryat Shmona and Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv followed by Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Kfar Sava. Both games should be forgone conclusions, but don't tell that to the underdogs.

In the first match, Beitar Shimshon will try its luck at slaying yet another Premier League opponent. The team, mired in seventh place in the third division and struggling to avoid relegation, is hanging its hopes on 36-year-old Ofer Sheetrit.

"In principle we've already done our share," said the striker, trying to lower expectations. "I believe that if we do the maximum and still lose, everyone will appreciate it." Defender Eliran Elyakim sounded more optimistic. "We may be coming in as an underdog, but we want to keep enjoying the run," he said. "With a little luck, we hope to do it again."

While it's easy to write off Kfar Sava in the second match, coach Eli Ohana thinks otherwise. "If we play disciplined like we did against Netanya, we could take Beitar deep into the match, and then who knows what will happen." He explained yesterday that things are different when it comes to Cup time. "Our minds our totally on the Cup," he said. "We're not conceding anything."
