DUESSELDORF, Germany - Georgios Karagounis scored two goals last night to lead Greece to a 2-1 win over Portugal in a night of international friendlies all over Europe.

Karagounis first curled a shot from the edge of the area over the wall and beyond the goalkeeper's reach in the 33rd minute. His second goal in the 60th was almost a carbon copy of the first, going into the same corner from roughly the same spot.

The midfielder also scored the opening goal when the Greeks defeated Portugal 2-1 in the opening game of the 2004 European Championship, which the Portuguese hosted. Greece went on to upset Portugal 1-0 in the final, and this was their first meeting since then.

Portugal hasn't beaten Greece in 12 years.

Nuno Gomes pulled one back for the Portuguese in the 75th, tapping in at the back post after Hugo Almeida headed across the area.

At Herning, Denmark, Jan Koller scored to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Czech Republic against Denmark in another international friendly.

Koller, the all-time leading Czech scorer, headed in the equalizer in the 42nd minute off a cross from Libor Sionko from the right. It was his 52nd goal in 86 games for his country.

Nicklas Bendtner had put the Danes ahead when he swapped passes with Thomas Kristensen in the 25th minute before shooting past goalkeeper Jaromir Blazek.

At Saint-Denis, France, David Beckham made his 100th appearance for England when he started a friendly against France, becoming one of five English players to reach the century mark.

England coach Fabio Capello started Beckham in the 1-0 loss at Stade de France, despite speculation that the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder would be on the bench.

Beckham was dropped by Capello's predecessor, Steve McClaren, after the 2006 World Cup and missed nine England matches. He was recalled a year later by McClaren following a string of poor results.

England's failure to qualify for the European Championship had left Beckham on 99 appearances.

Other scores from yesterday: Andorra 0, Latvia 3; Austria 3, Netherlands 4; Belarus 2, Turkey 2; Bosnia-Herzegovina 2, Macedonia 2; Bulgaria 2, Finland 1; Egypt 0, Argentina 2; Estonia 2, Canada 0; Hungary 0, Slovenia 1; Lithuania 1, Azerbaijan 0; Luxembourg 0, Wales 2; Malta 7, Liechtenstein 1; Montenegro 3, Norway 1.
