Soccer / Davidovich forced to put off scope
By Moshe Harush

Despite his resolute position, Maccabi Haifa goalkeeper Nir Davidovich will not undergo an arthroscopy today on his injured knee, after coach Roni Levy vetoed the idea in order for the player to get medical treatment before the end of the season.

The heads of the club made it clear to Davidovich that Levy's decision is final and is not open to discussion. On top of this, the decision will be enforced after Haifa made it clear to Dr. Bezalel Paskin to cancel the treatment that had been scheduled for today - and this is not according to the opinion of the attending physician or after consulting with him.

"It appears as if Roni has decided to go head-to-head with the players so that they all suffer together until the last game," they said at the club, after this decision came on top of Levy's objection to releasing Renato and Diego Crosa before the end of the season.

Haifa expressed its willingness to allow the goalkeeper to have the procedure done next week, but Davidovich was against that and made it clear that if it did not happen today, he would push it off until the beginning of next season. The significance would be, if that is indeed what happens, Davidovich would miss the beginning of the 2008-09 campaign as an arthroscopy requires at least three weeks of rest.
