Soccer / Beitar opens field to fans
By Matan Krakow

In an attempt to preempt pandemonium, Beitar Jerusalem officials and the Israel Police agreed yesterday to allow soccer fans on the field at Teddy Stadium this Sunday after the game against Maccabi Herzliya. The club expects to clinch the league championship when it plays Herzliya given its 15 point lead with six games remaining and the weakness of its opponent. Herzliya, meanwhile, is trying to fight off relegation and sits just two points ahead of Ashdod SC.

One person liable to miss the celebrations with the fans is goalkeeper Tvrtko Kale, who left yesterday's practice with strong pains in his ankle from an injury he sustained when he crashed into Beitar defender Shmuel Kozokin. Team doctors will evaluate his condition tomorrow, but it's probable that Sagi Straus, who only yesterday returned from a lengthy illness, will start in goal on Sunday.
