A barrage of rockets fired from Gaza struck the western Negev on Sunday, causing no casualties.
In the latest attack, a Kassam hit Sderot, setting a house on fire, and the second hit an open field outside the town. Islamic Jihad's Al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility.
Earlier, a Kassam launched from northern Gaza hit a kibbutz in the Negev. No one was wounded and no damage was caused. The Salah al-Din Brigades of the Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the attack.
In addition, Palestinian terrorists fired a rocket towards Ashkelon. The rocket, likely a Grad-type Katyusha, exploded before landing but caused serious damage to a garage in the city's industrial zone. No one was hurt in the attack.
Two more Kassams launched from Gaza landed in an open area of the Negev. No one was wounded and no damage was reported.
On Friday, a Grad rocket landed in the Givat Zion Cemetery in Ashkelon. The rocket caused no casualties but significantly damaged the cemetery.
Following the attack, Ashkelon Mayor Roni Mahatzri said that "because of the government's failed policy, even the dead cannot rest in peace in Ashkelon. The government and the man at its helm are not doing anything to stop rocket fire raining at the Israel's South. We live in an intolerable situation where the state's government cannot promise the citizens of southern communities the security they deserve."
