The man, in his twenties, was treated by a Magen David Adom team at the scene but died on the way to hospital.

Police were investigating the circumstances of the incident.

On Friday morning an 80-year-old man driving an electric scooter was badly injured near Tiberias when he was hit by a car.

The man was badly injured and taken to Haifa's Rambam Hospital by helicopter. The driver of the car, an 18-year-old, was also evacuated for medical treatment.

Police initially issued a statement saying the elderly man had been killed, but Israel Radio reported that a clarification
issued by the police corrected its statement, saying the man was still hospitalized with serious injuries.

Earlier Friday, a 73-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after she was hit by a car near the Druse village of Yarka.

The offending driver escaped the scene without offering the pedestrian any assistance. Police have erected roadblocks in the area in an attempt to locate the car.

Since the beginning of the year, 331 people have been killed on Israel's roads.
