Golf / Flyboy Midkiff signs off in style
By Shmulik Futeran

The April Monthly Medal tournament, held at the Gaash Golf Club on Tuesday, was marked by some excellent, with the warm but windy conditions bringing out over 70 participants. The fairways are now growing beautiful green summer grass, and the good state of the greens made conditions perfect.

The "A" Division was won by Senior NCO Steve Midkiff from the U.S. Air Force, playing in his last Monthly Medal before returning to America. Midkiff scored a net-65 with a front nine of 41 and came back in even par-35 with a birdie, seven pars and a bogie. Avi Dekel and Mati Geri both had net-66 with second place going to Avi on the count out.

Net-70 seemed to be the lucky score in the "B" Division as Janine Portnier, Limor Sidi, Yerucham Shafat, and Avraham Zandkeren all went around in net 70. On final count out, the cup went to Janine and Limor took second place.

In the "C" Division once again, scoring was very close. Evi Wyler took first place on net-66. Gershon Feldman and Lipa Meier both ended with net-68 with Gershon taking 2nd place on the count out.

The 'Nearest to the Pin' prizes, provided by the Wine Center at Gaash went to Jill Pik on the 4th hole, par 3, playing 105 meters, she came just 82cm from the hole. On the tougher par three ninth hole, playing 160 meters, Joe Hallis was 1.9m from the pin.

Club members are now looking forward to the lucrative Rolex Cup, which will be held next week at Gaash Golf.
