Golf / Feinblum and Schnour in time to win Rolex tourney

Allan Feinblum and Yossi Schnour win the morning session and teenagers Gidi Shama and Inon Zadok win the afternoon session at the Rolex Cup tournament held at the Gaash Golf Club on Monday.

The format of the competition was Better-Ball Stableford, 75 percent handicap. The field in the sponsored tournament consisted of 120 golfers, with the morning session playing in perfect conditions, but the afternoon session suffering from slightly windied conditions.

The golfers were treated to Rolex T-shirts, caps and a copy of the "New Rules of Golf and the Rules of the Amateur Status" by the Royal and Ancient, in a Hebrew-Edition sponsored by Euro-Asia, the distributors of Rolex watches in Israel.

The nine-hole morning session was won by the duo of Allan Feinblum and Yossi Schnour with 23 Stableford points.

In second place, were Yerucham Shafat and Greg Elliot on 22 points and in third place, after the count-out, were Dory Shadmon and Eitan Kasif on 21 points. The prizes for nearest to the pin in the morning went to Amos Raz, on Hole 4, a par 3, playing 120 meters, coming just 78cm from the pin. On the longer Hole 9, par 3, playing 160 meters was George Berold coming 5.87m from the pin.

In tougher windy afternoon conditions, 16-year-old Gidi Shama from Ra'anana and 14-year-old Inon Zadok of Netanya, took first place with the excellent score of 46 Stableford points. On 43 Stableford points were the pairs Gordon Futeran & Danny Shevi and Yehoshua Schponda and Simcha Cohen. On the count-out, Gordon and Danny took second place and Yehoshua and Simcha took third. Nearest to the Pin prizes went to Moti Sela on Hole 4, par 3, who came 2.10m from the pin and Moshe Ben-Dov came just 1.8m on the ninth hole.

At the prize-giving ceremony, held at the "Albatross" on the terrace of the Gaash Golf Club, Dani Pfizer, owner and CEO of Euro-Asia, presented the trophies and watches to the winners.

Coming up next week at Gaash Golf, is the annual "Ad 120" tournament for handicaps of 20-36.
