Bedouin man burns cousin's home because she took part in Independence Day celebrations
By Mijal Grinberg
Tags: Independence Day, Bedouin

Four men were indicted Monday in the Be'er Sheva District Court for allegedly lighting fire to the house of a Bedouin woman because she took part in the Independence Day torch-lighting ceremony.

According to the indictment, Tabath Elbaz discovered that his cousin, Sana Elbaz, was planning to be the Bedouin representative who would light a torch on Independence Day. Angry with his cousin's decision, Tabath decided to set fire to her car and home. He called another cousin of his, Ahmed Elbaz, who was also Sana Elbaz's neighbor in Tel Sheva, and asked for his help.

Together with two other friends from the village, Tabath and Ahmed Elbaz set fire to her house and car one day after she took part in the ceremony.

While Sana was at home with her two children when her house was set on fire, they managed to escape unharmed.
