WONDERFUL Flavours!!! and a minor miracle: this went down brilliantly well with all of us.. even our fussy little kids who wouldn't normally eat grapefruit, orange, lemon and basil! the best part of this miracle was the I also used fresh red grapefruit and freshly squeezed oranges and threw in the pulp as well. I "marketed" it to the kids a new icecream and they lapped it up! I also thought that since DH doesn't like sour tastes much that he might not give such a great review... but he loved it too! Total success!!! Please see my Rating System: 5 excellent excellent stars for a recipe that I will be making VERY often so that I can sneak these fruits into the kids, and DH who isn't a great fruit fan. Ok.. there is sugar, but at least this isn't loaded with E numbers and flavour enhancers and preservatives that commercial stuff contains. Pick your battles, I concede the sugar for the extra vitamins and the extension of their food flavours that I can get in here. This recipe is a WINNER ! Thanks!

Cold, sweet and simple. I substituted equal parts of lime and lemon juice for the grapefruit juice, which unfortunately gave a much orange-ier taste than I think the recipe would have had as written. I used lemon basil, which was an interesting flavor in the syrup, but got lost in the finished product.

I made this for ZWT4 for the Frozen dessert challenge since I don't own an ice cream maker. It was light and refreshing but we didn't really care for the basil taste. I'm going to try making it again and omit the basil next time! It was refreshing on a really hot summer day here in NC! Thanks for posting!

I selected this recipe for the ZWT4 Italian Frozen Dessert Challenge. I was drawn to this recipe because it sounded refreshing with lots of citrus flavor and it was simple! It filled all of those expectations and more! We loved it! It tastes just wonderful!
