Crooks are phishing again for your personal data
By Guy Griml

Beware: Online attempts to defraud you are getting more sophisticated. A new round of attempts to get bank account information and personal details out of customers by setting up fake Internet sites resembling those of Bank Hapoalim and Bank Otsar HaHayal has been exposed in recent days. This is known as phishing. Two months ago there were similar attempts reported against Bank Leumi customers, though Leumi said it had prevented efforts to defraud customers resulting from the attacks.

Otsar HaHayal customers received an e-mail last week warning them that their online accounts were blocked and asking them to renew them. (The original Hebrew text was full of grammatical errors.)

The message asked customers to click on a link to update their accounts. The link brought users to a fake site that asked customers for personal and account details.

Similar attempts were made recently against Bank Hapoalim customers, too. They received a similar, slightly ungrammatical message.
