Tel Aviv Police on Monday morning arrested two Herzliya cousins, aged 36 and 44, on suspicion of involvement in the murder.

Police have opened an investigation, and believe the murder may have been related to a feud between criminal families in the Sharon region.

A Magen David Adom team that arrived at the scene tried to treat the man, Aviv Sarig, but eventually pronounced him dead. Sarig was found to be associated with the Alperon crime family, and was known to the police.

He was shot at short range several times in his upper body. Citizens living near the shopping center amassed when they heard shooting, and alerted paramedics to the scene. Police forces also arrived and began searching for the shooter.

Several months ago, the victim was indicted after taking responsibility for a stash of gun parts found in the house of Ya'acov Alperon in Ra'anana.

Sarig was known as an expert in stealing motorcycles, and police said he was also a suspect in several cases of breaking and entering.
